PRINCIPAL STITCHES

Made by one or several stitches

Double stitch (d.st)
On the chain, take a stitch, then cast the cotton over the needle and draw through

Treble Stitch (tr.st)
Cast the cotton over the needle. take a stitch on the chain, cast the cotton once more over the needle, draw through two loops, cast the cotton again over the needle, then draw through the two remaining loops.

Double treble (d.tr)
Cast the cotton twice over the needle, take a stitch on the chain, then draw through the loops on the needle, always castin g the cotton again over the needle and drawing it through two loops at a time.

Triple treble (no abbreviation given)
Cast the cotton three times over the needle. Take a stitch in the chain, then drop the stitches on the needle, casting the cotton once more over the needle to draw it through two loops at a time.

Picot (p)
On the chain, work – * 4 d.st. – then 5 ch. – join last to first. – Repeat from *.

Stitches previously explained worked together ( see fig Nos 1 et 3)

Crossed treble
On the chain, work a first row, alternately (alt.) – 1tr. – 1 ch-under which you miss a st.
For the second row, which is used to run a ribbon through, work alt. – 1d.tr. – 2ch. – On the 3rd following st. of the previous row, work half of a d.tr. – after having dropped the first thread, work 1 tr. on the 3rd following st. – finish the d.tr. – 2 ch. – 1 tr. on the middle st. of the d.tr. Work a 3rd row like the 1st.

Plain centre ring
Make a chain of 10 st.
Join last to first – then 3 ch. – 19 tr. in the ring – join to the third of the 3 ch.

Like the previous one, only working 1 ch. Between every tr.
