 Taken From Princess Manual of Artistic Crochet Vol 4 CHAIN STITCH (ch): Catch thread with hook, making a loop, draw thread with hook through the loop. This makes the first stitch. Repeat, drawing thread through as many loops as required. Each loop is termed a chain. (ch) SLIP STITCH (sl st): Insert the hook into work, draw thread through work and the loop on the hook at the same time. SINGLE CROCHET (sc): Insert hook into work, draw thread through, making 2 loops on the hook; place thread again over the hook and draw through both loops. DOUBLE CROCHET (dc): Place thread over hooks once, draw thread through work; place thread again over the hook and draw through 2 loops; place thread once more over the hook, and again draw through 2 loops. SHORT DOUBLE CROCHET (sdc): Place thread over hook once, draw thread through the work: place thread over hook again and draw thread through all 3 loops at once. TREBLE CROCHET (tr or tc): Place thread over hook 2 times; draw thread through th work; thread over hook again and draw thread through 2 loops; place thread again over hook over the hook, and draw through 2 loops; place thread over hook once more, and draw through 2 more loops. TRIPLE TREBLE CROCHET (tt): Place thread over hook 3 times; draw thread through the work; place thread over hook again; draw through 2 loops; thread over hook again; draw through 2 loops;thread over hook, draw through 2 loops; place thread over hook once more and again draw through 2 loops. LONG TREBLE CROCHET (ltr): Place thread over hook 5 times; cast off 2 loops, and again 2 loops; leaving 5 loops on the hook;hold 4 loops; chain 6 on 1st loop; slip stitch through 5th chain from hook; bring under second loop; cast off 2 loops; the 2 loops, and again 2 loops. FORKED TREBLE CROCHET (ftr): Place thread over hook 5 times;draw thread through work; place thread over hook again, cast off 2 loops, and again 2 loops; place thread over hook 2 times, draw thread through work to left; thread over hook; cast off 2loops, then 2 loops, etc., until all are cast off. PICOT CROCHET (pi): Chain 4; insert hook in first chain made; thread over hook; draw through chain stitch and loop on hook at once. CLUSTER (Cl): *Place thread over hook twice; draw thread through work; thread over hook again; cast off 2 loops; then2 more loops; repeat from * twice; then cast off remaining loops at once.
